You’ve learned a lot so far, so let’s quickly recap the steps you need to take regardless of what you’ve decided to paint.
1.) Take your reference photo and convert it to black & white. If you choose to pick a different subject (a still-life, portrait or abstract), make sure to watch Module 8 for things to bear in mind.
2.) Identify the different value ranges using your Grey Scale Value Finder.
3.) Go back to your color photo and using your the color swatches you already created, identify the colors you want to use. REMEMBER: The leaves don’t have to be green and the grapes don’t have to be purple, HOWEVER, getting the values correct is what is going to take your painting from good to GREAT!
