COURSE OVERVIEW

OVER 30 HOURS OF STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTION

Welcome to “It’s More than a Painting.”  

My name is Michelle Scarafile and I’ve been painting since I was a young girl.  In MODULE 1, I’ll share with you why it was so important for me to create this course and I’ll help you get clear on your own “WHY”…

MODULE 2 is all about setting up your space and deciding on your subject matter.  Whether you paint a landscape along with me, or something else…  you’ll learn everything you need to know to get started.

In MODULE 3, we’ll cover the all of the supplies you’ll need and what to do with them.  Different brushes will make different marks on the canvas and your supplies might vary slightly depending on your subject matter and the size of your canvas. 

MODULE 4 is all about theory and practical application. You’ll learn about VALUES and why they will ‘make or break’ your piece… You’ll also get a crash course in COLOR THEORY and you’ll learn how to create virtually any color you want (or need) from 2 yellows, 2 reds and 2 blues.

MODULE 5 is where we put it all together.  We take everything you’ve learned so far and prepare to paint.  We’ll chat about what to do when fear creeps in (believe me, it does!) and how to protect yourself from copyright infringement. 

MODULE 6 is where the rubber meets the road.  It’s time to ground your canvas, graph, plot and sketch your subject and start adding layers of paint.  I’ll share some tips and tricks to make sure you stay out of the proverbial quicksand.

MODULE 7 includes troubleshooting.  We’ll cover what to do if your painting falls flat and when it’s time to call it “finished”…  You’ll also learn how to treat the edges of your canvas, whether or not to consider framing, and how to hang your piece.
